My Village Yoga – yoga for everyone and every BODY
My Village Yoga was founded on the idea that the benefits of yoga should be shared with everyone throughout the Cleveland community, regardless of age, body type, race, religion, or fitness level.
My Village Yoga’s founder, Kimberly Archibald Russell, is a 200 hour certified yoga instructor since 2014, who began practicing prenatal yoga 15 years ago. As principal yoga instructor, Kimberly specializes in adapting yoga poses and sequences to provide an enjoyable and beneficial experience for men and women of any body type, age or flexibility level.
My Village Yoga focuses on the primary benefits of regular yoga practice including improved overall health, increased strength, flexibility and balance throughout the life cycle.
In the early years of her yoga practice, Kimberly rarely saw people of color at the studios around Cleveland. It was then that her dream was born, to teach yoga in her Hough-Fairfax neighborhood. That dream is now a reality. My Village Yoga can be found at the Thurgood Marshall Recreation Center (Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6PM), and PNC Connections on Carnegie Ave. (select Saturdays, 12:30PM visit pncfairfaxconnection.com for details).
As Kimberly introduces yoga to new populations, she reiterates that yoga isn’t just about the poses. Your yoga experience will be unique to your body and your life experiences.
